Status of the UDP

The adopted UDP replaces the former development plan for the area which comprised the Mid Glamorgan Replacement Structure Plan, the Mid Glamorgan Mineral Local Plan for Limestone Quarrying and the Ogwr Borough Local Plan. Taken together, these plans had an end date of 2006.

The former development plan contained land allocations which were under construction at the time of the preparation of the UDP or have the benefit of planning consent. The UDP acknowledges many of these commitments.

The UDP gives a clear indication of where development will be encouraged in the County Borough, and equally where it will be resisted. The UDP is also the main document referred to when planning applications are determined by the Council.

The UDP is therefore important in determining the future development of every community in the County Borough.
